Robert Lis, violin

Robert Lis was born in Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland. He started playing violin at the age of 6. He is one of the most talented Polish violinists of his generation and prizewinner of many national and international violin competitions. In 2011 he graduated with honours from Ignacy Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan as a student of prof. Marcin Baranowski. In 2012 he gained his 2nd master degree at the Amsterdam Conservatory as student of Ilya Grubert. In the years 2010 - 2012 he was assistent leader of 2nd violins in Radio Kamer Filharmonie, followed by an appointment as 2nd concertmaster  in the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest in the years 2012 - 2018. Since 2018 he serves as 2nd concertmaster in Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden. As a soloist and chamber musician Robert Lis has performed in many European concert halls. In July 2021 he gave his solo debut with Staatskapelle Dresden in Semperoper when he played the Dresden premiere of Alexander Arutiunians violin concerto. Robert Lis plays a violin by Pietro Floriani from 1835.
